Volunteer Rules and Information

Yes, there is a lot of information here. Yes, we feel it is important. If you’ve volunteered before, you know that we pride EABF on the quality and reliability of our volunteers all while we follow the #1 rule of EABF – “Have Fun!”

We would be thrilled to have you as part of the 7th annual East Atlanta Beer Festival! The EABF features over 130 craft beers from around the globe. The primary goal of the EABF is to raise money to support nonprofit organizations with projects intended to improve the local community.As you know, the East Atlanta Beer Festival could not exist without your volunteer support. All the information you need can be found on this site. Please read the information thoroughly. 

Remember, volunteers represent the East Atlanta Beer Festival to thousands of beer enthusiasts. If the thought of remaining sober (sampling conservatively) during your shifts bums you out, volunteering may not be for you (you can buy a ticket and drink to your heart's content). If greeting and helping beer enthusiasts does seem like something you want to do, then please keep reading. We need friendly, fun loving and dedicated volunteers that can represent the organization appropriately. . 

Location & Dates -- New Location and Weekend!!
EABF 2010 will be held 1/2 mile south of 2009's location and will be in Brownwood Park (205 Emerson St, Atlanta, GA 30316) on May 22, 2010.

Minimum Age Requirements
All volunteers must be a minimum of 21 years of age to volunteer. Photo IDs will be checked upon arrival. 

T-Shirt
Your volunteer t-shirt is your uniform. You must wear it at all times when you are working. You will receive this t-shirt when you check in at the beginning of your shift. (What color are we doing this year? The "paprika" of 2008? The "carolina" of 2009? Stay tuned...we won't let you down).

Check-In
You will need to check in at least 15 minutes prior to your shift start time. The location of the Volunteer Check-in area will be identified at the mandatory Volunteer Orientation Session. Please note changes in volunteer shift times for 2010 (you are all smart - or should be. Otherwise, we don't want you. Pay attention to the changes).

Responsibilities
Dependent upon your assigned volunteer role, your responsibilities will vary. We have roles in beer pouring, serving as a runner, working the entry gates, volunteer check-in, etc. Your main responsibility as a volunteer is to fulfill the requirements of your assigned role and not be inebriated while doing so. Please be courteous and helpful to all participants and offer any assistance to those with special needs. (You think we're being repetitive here - wait til we video "that volunteer" this year and post it online for everyone to see. Don't be "that guy"...as our web presence is getting better...and we'll get you to the top of the Google search).

On-Duty Rules
We expect that you adhere to our policy of tasting beer conservatively while representing the East Atlanta Beer Festival to the thousands of beer enthusiasts. You should not be inebriated during any point of your scheduled volunteer shift. 

Attendance
We count on your presence and your prompt arrival for your scheduled shift. If you notify us that you will be unable to volunteer within 1 week of the Beer Festival or do not show up for your shift the day of, you will be ineligible to pour for the next year's Festival.

Arrival & Breaks
Please allow adequate time to allow for parking (to be discussed at the orientation session) and checking in at least 15 minutes prior to your scheduled shift time. Breaks on-shift will be coordinated by your Captain (Oh Captain, My Captain!).

Volunteer Orientation Session
All volunteers are required to attend one of two Volunteer Orientation Sessions. At the orientation session you will meet the Volunteer Coordinators of EABF, learn the layout of the festival as well as your Team Captain, and all the logistical details will be explained in detail. Please plan on attending this mandatory session of camaraderie, FUN, and information. 

These training sessions will be schedule for the evenings of Tuesday, May 18th and Thursday, May 20th. More information will be provided once you are confirmed as a volunteer.
